Chocolate Covered Healthy Date Bars

Chocolate Covered Healthy Date Bars

Date and almond healthy and guilt-free dessert bars covered in chocolate. A healthy alternative to sugary desserts. Perfect to take with yourself on the go.

Ingredients

  • 250 gm dates soaked
  • 215 gm almonds roasted
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp oil unflavored

Instructions

  • Take a bowl and soak 250 gm dates in water for 15 minutes after rinsing.
  • De-seed the dates after soaking them chop them coarsely and throw them in a chopper.
  • Chop them finely, and transfer to a bowl.
  • Roast your 215 gm almonds in a non-stick pan for 2-3 minutes.
  • Let them cool for a bit, and then transfer to the chopper.
  • Chop finely and then sift and set aside 2-3 tbsp almonds for garnishing your date bars.
  • Take the rest of your chopped almonds and add to the dates, mixing thoroughly. Make them into ball or bar shapes depending on your preferance.
  • Take a double boiler and add in your 1/2 cup dark chocolate, 1/2 cup milk chocolate and 2 tbsp melted butter and melt them together.
  • Add 1 tsp oil in the end to give a runny consistency to your chocolate sauce.
  • Dip your bars in the chocolate and coat them properly. Let them set in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
  • Once set, take them out and dip each side again slightly in remaining chocolate sauce and then the almonds to garnish its ends.
  • Serve them in a plate and enjoy your healthy date bars.

Notes:

  • Try to take softer dates for this date bars recipe, as the hard dates might be difficullt to chop.
  • Make sure to properly refrigerate your date bars, otherwise they might break and the chocolate also won’t set properly.
  • Make sure to use unsalted butter and unflavoured oil in every dessert recipe you try as that could seriously affect the taste.
  • If you want your date bars to be even more rich in taste, you can add other nuts too, like walnuts or hazelnuts.
